HOW WISERTOGETHER STARTED

WiserTogether was born out of the simple idea that technology can help people facing challenging situations to make informed decisions that give them peace of mind. Making decisions without adequate information is stressful – especially when the health of you or your baby is at stake.

WiserTogether’s founder, Shub, had such a situation when he and his wife were expecting their first child. They faced tough decisions about which tests and procedures to undergo: Were they worth the risk? What if the results were inconclusive?

Like everyone else, they turned to their friends and the Web for guidance. Their friends were helpful, but the information was anecdotal. Health Web sites had good information, but were overwhelming and didn’t offer enough direction. What they really wanted was data: What did other couples like them (in their 30s, having their first baby) do? What tests did they have? What treatments did they seek?

Shub and his wife had to make some of the toughest decisions of their lives with insufficient information. And their experience is not unique. The stress of making difficult medical decisions without adequate information is extremely common.

This doesn’t have to be the case. Determined to help others get the facts they need to face their pregnancy situations, Shub founded WiserTogether.

HOW WISERTOGETHER WORKS

WiserTogether is a smart, easy, secure Web-based tool designed to help users explore their options and make decisions. WiserTogether’s technology uses techniques rooted in science and math to quickly present data and information that is relevant to you.

You can use most of the site’s features anonymously and for free. However, if you would like to tailor the data to your particular situation or contribute to online discussions, you do need to complete the free registration. You can also request custom medical research for a small fee.

WiserTogether’s pregnancy site has data from thousands of women about more than 600 options they may face while pregnant. Their decisions relate to a number of health-related issues, from back pain treatments to nausea remedies to getting an epidural (or not).

Data and information on these options is collected and updated continuously. We currently have more than 300,000 data points across 600-plus choices. To help you find the data that fits your situation, WiserTogether allows you to filter information based on age, education, number of pregnancies and more.

WiserTogether also asks you about the decisions you have made – so you can help others. Your answers are anonymous and any information you provide will never be used to identify you. (See Privacy Policy) Your responses will be added to the database, categorized and aggregated – becoming an invaluable source of “real person” information that others can use to make their own decisions.

WiserTogether’s advanced data system simplifies decision making, giving you the data you need to reach a conclusion you are comfortable with.
